A Story of My Life

Figure: Pauline at her tailoring business.

“Today, her business is thriving, generating an estimated profit of 4,000 Kenya shillings.”

Pauline Ghati Roma, with DREAMS ID 39/1289/2569, was enrolled in the USAID Nuru ya Mtoto DREAMS project through a referral by the area chief, as she is a survivor of intimate partner violence (IPV).

Before joining the program, Pauline worked at a gold mine, a maledominated environment that exposed her to risks of sexual violence. She is a mother of three and had dropped out of school in class 7 before being married off at a young age. Through the DREAMS project, Pauline applied for
a business boost worth 5,000 Kenya shillings, which she used to purchase materials and revive her tailoring business.

Today, her business is thriving, generating an estimated profit of 4,000 Kenya shillings. Pauline has reinvested her earnings to expand her business, now incorporating the sale of plastic shoes. She has achieved stability and
expresses deep gratitude for the support provided by the project.
